Originally founded as a simple Bingo hall in 1986, Foxwoods Resort Casino was financed by a Malaysian gentleman called Lim Goh Tong. Mr Tong was renowned for founding the only legal casino in Malaysia. 1992 the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe who were, and still are the casinos owners added a number of table games to their bingo hall, followed by a few slots thus creating a proper casino.
The casino agreed to pay 25% of their revenue to the state of Connecticut, which back then wasn’t very much but today is worth millions of dollars. The full build out of the resort was completed in 2001, by a number of construction companies, many of which were owned and run by Native Americans.
